With the ratification of the ASEAN Charter in December 2008, the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) had embarked on an organization restructuring that is aligned to the requirements of the Charter and their respective Community Blueprints, namely: the ASEAN Political and Security Community (APSC), the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC).
We are looking for bright and self motivated candidates for the position of Technical Officer (TO) – Trade in Services to work with the specialist staff members in the execution of their duties.
The main responsibilities of the Technical Officer – Trade in Services include:
- Compile and analyse ASEAN Member Countries' trade in services commitments and services regulations;
- Assist in preparing meeting documents and reports;
- Conduct research and prepare papers;
- Facilitate and service relevant meetings and draft report of meeting; and
- Liaise with ASEAN government officials and other related parties on the preparation, conduct and follow-up to ASEAN meetings and activities.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Public Administration, or Business Administration;
- Competence in economic research and data analysis, project management, and organising meetings. Knowledge or experience in the conduct of business in services sectors is an advantage; and
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in economic research, consultancy and/or programme management, in a governmental, international, or private sector organisation.
- Excellent English communications skills (written and oral);
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office tools;
- Able to multi-task and work irregular and long hours;
- Able to work independently as well as in a team in a multicultural environment;
- Able to travel, as and when required; and
- Knowledge of regional and international economic cooperation and familiarity with ISO 9001-2000 system and procedures will be an added advantage.
- Media relations;
- Event organisation and coordination;
- Protocol duties;
- Public education and outreach on ASEAN;
- Interface with civil society organizations; and
- Project management.
- Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, or other relevant fields.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in governmental/international organizations or private sector involved in public relations/media relations or programme management.
- Having exposure dealing with a wide spectrum of corporate affairs, community relations, and public communications.
- Excellent English language written skills;
- Ability to communicate clearly in both English and Bahasa Indonesia;
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office tools;
- Able to work well in a team in a multicultural environment;
- Able to multi-task and work under pressure;
- Able to travel, and work irregular and long hours, as and when required;
- Dynamic and comfortable with taking the initiative;
- Comfortable interacting with different nationalities and cultures; and
- Knowledge on ISO 9001 : 2000 is an advantage.
